We are seeking a skilled Linguistics professional specializing in Chinese/Cantonese (Hong Kong) linguistics or dialectology to work as a project consultant in our AI Labor Marketplace. This is not a full-time employment position — you will be engaged as an expert project consultant on a contract basis.

Project Description

This project engages linguistics experts to evaluate AI-generated text across multiple Chinese/Cantonese dialects and regional standards. Contributors will assess grammatical correctness, naturalness, stylistic appropriateness, and dialect-specific usage in model outputs.

This is a project-based consultant role. Consultants will be paid on a per-project basis; hourly rates are estimates based on anticipated completion time. Consultants control their own schedule, provide their own tools, and may simultaneously provide services to other vendors/employers (subject to those vendors’ allowances).

Responsibilities

Contributors will:

  • Evaluate AI-generated text for grammatical correctness and linguistic naturalness across Chinese dialects.
  • Compare multiple model outputs and select the most linguistically appropriate option.
  • Assess dialect-specific usage across regional Chinese variants.
  • Identify syntactic, semantic, or stylistic issues in generated text.
  • Provide concise written explanations supporting linguistic judgments.

Expected Outcomes

  • Completed evaluation tasks with structured ratings.
  • Expert linguistic judgments regarding grammar and dialect appropriateness.
  • Short written explanations supporting evaluation decisions.

Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work from and be currently based in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada.
  • Must have a minimum of a graduate-level education (Master’s degree or Ph.D; internal degrees are acceptable)
  • Background in Chinese/Cantonese (Hong Kong) linguistics, sociolinguistics, dialectology, or World Englishes preferred.
  • Native or professional proficiency in Chinese/Cantonese (Hong Kong)
