At Flipflow, we’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong experience in AI and data-intensive systems to join our core engineering team and help us build and scale one of the most ambitious Retail Intelligence platforms in the market.
This is a deep technical role, for people who genuinely enjoy building software, thinking about architecture, and getting involved not only in code but also in product and business decisions.

Your Challenge & Impact
At Flipflow, every new backend feature is an adventure and a project on its own — most of them genuinely fun if you like hard problems.
We crawl over a billion datapoints per week, process and normalize massive volumes of messy retail data, and turn that into structured intelligence used by global brands.
As a Senior Backend Engineer (AI & Data), your mission is to design, build and evolve the systems that:
Collect and process massive volumes of raw data with our own crawling infraestructure
Normalize, relate and enrich millions of products across markets with complex data pipelines
Power our propietary BI suite, analytics and AI-driven insights using LLM’s and Agents
Scale reliably as customers, use cases and data volumes grow
You will have a direct impact on product quality, system scalability, data intelligence and Flipflow’s long-term technical foundation.
What will you do?
Design, build and maintain core backend services and APIs powering Flipflow’s platform.
Work on large-scale data pipelines, including ingestion, normalization, enrichment and aggregation.
Develop and evolve AI- and ML-driven systems, including entity matching, classification and inference layers.
Build LLM-powered workflows used in data understanding, automation and interaction with datasets.
Work on high-throughput, asynchronous and event-driven systems.
Contribute to and improve massive crawling infrastructure, handling tens of millions of daily requests and thousands of parallel browsers.
Ensure performance, reliability and scalability across services and databases.
Collaborate closely with Frontend, Data, Product and Customer Success teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Take real ownership of architecture decisions, refactors and long-term technical improvements.
Mentor other engineers and raise the technical bar of the team.
Stay close to Customer Success to fix priority issues.
Code daily using LLM-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot or similar) as a natural part of your workflow.
You will be involved not only in backend application code, but also in structural systems and, occasionally, frontend work when needed.
Tech, Data & Infrastructure Stack
You don’t need to know everything upfront, but you should be excited about working with:
Backend: PHP (Laravel as main framework), plus parts in Typescript, Node, Python and Golang
Databases: MySQL, Postgres, some MongoDB, and large time-series databases for BI
Frontend: React + TypeScript (SPA BI suite you’ll work closely with)
Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes and MUCH more.
Cloud: Google Cloud Platform and AWS.
AI & Data: ML models, complex LLM workflows and AI-powered data processing
Crawling: Distributed systems with millions of daily requests and thousands of parallel browsers. We have our own libraries and projects that we develop in-house.
Your Profile
5+ years of experience in Backend, Full-stack, Tech Lead or similar roles.
Proven track record of owning complex projects and delivering impact.
You genuinely love building software and getting involved in architecture and product decisions.
Strong experience with PHP and Laravel.
Working knowledge of Golang.
Solid understanding of JavaScript and browser internals (crawling, automation, Node, React).
Knowledge of protocols, memory management and threading concepts.
Experience working in cloud environments (you’re not a DevOps, but you’ve built, deployed and operated real systems).
Strong foundation in SOLID principles, clean code, design patterns and unit testing (we use DDD in our core processing).
Excellent understanding of relational databases and query optimization.
Proactive, communicative and with a strong growth mindset.
Comfortable working daily with LLM-assisted coding tools.
Nice to Have
Experience working with very large datasets (standardization, tagging, time series, graph-like data).
Knowledge of React and TypeScript.
Experience with large-scale, efficient web scraping.
